A 22-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the South Loop.

About 1:20 p.m., Dearl Butler was parked in the 600 block of South Wells Street when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Butler was struck multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled Butler’s death a homicide.
