A woman was fatally shot Wednesday evening outside a home in West Garfield Park.

Esmeralda Hernandez, 38, was standing outside when someone exited a vehicle and shot her in the abdomen, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The attack happened around 7:20 p.m. in the 200 block of South Kilpartrick Avenue, police said.

Hernandez was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police reported no arrest.
