A man was shot Saturday morning in Jefferson Park on the Northwest Side.

About 3 a.m., the 27-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle with his friend in the 5100 block of West Agatite Avenue when the two were approached by a man in his 20s with a face tattoo who asked for money, Chicago police said.

When the two stated they didn’t have any money and began to drive away, the man opened fire at them, police said.

The 27-year-old was struck in the groin and taken to Community First Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody.
