A teenage boy was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

The boys were inside a vehicle making a drug transaction about 1:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Sawyer Avenue when two people pulled out guns and fired shots, Chicago police said.

Leonardo Bautista Jr., 16, was shot in the head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other boy, 17, was struck in the neck and self-transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital, police said. He was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

No arrest was reported.

Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 5900 block of South Ashland Avenue when they were shot at, police said. Five men were later taken into custody, two of whom were wounded. No officers were hurt.
