A 63-year-old woman was beaten by a man who broke into her Austin home Saturday evening on the West Side.
The man forced his way into the woman’s home when she answered the door between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Van Buren, according to Chicago Police. He threw her to the floor, hit her several times and then bound her hands and feet.
The man took her wallet and tried to take off her cloths, police said. She yelled for help and the man ran off, police said. The woman went to her neighbors’ home and called 911.
She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with bruises to her face, police said.
The suspect was described as a heavy-set black man in his late 30s with a light complexion, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a gray hat, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating the incident.
