A 65-year-old woman was shot and wounded early Thursday during an attempted robbery in Auburn Gresham on the South Side.
She was standing at a bus stop in the 8200 block of South Ashland Avenue at 12:39 a.m. when she tried to pull pepper spray from her purse to fend off a would-be robber. He shot her in the arm and side, according to the police, who said she was being treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
