Police are warning South Side residents of two burglaries over the weekend in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

Two suspects try to get inside a home and take property, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives. In one of the burglaries, the victim was investigating noises by his back door when he was sprayed by an unknown “white cloudy substance.”

The burglaries happened between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of East 56th Street and about 4:20 a.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of South Kimbark, police said.

Police said one of the suspects is a female, but no additional description was available.
