An 18-year-old man from Chicago was shot in northwest suburban Elgin Friday night.
The man was walking in a group at 8:52 p.m. in the 800 block of Preston Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and an argument broke out, Elgin police said in a statement. At some point, gunshots were fired and the man was struck in his thigh, police said.
He was being treated at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, police said. His injury is not life-threatening, police said.
