Cops: Man out on bond had pistol with laser mount on West Side

A 37-year-old man out on bond for a weapons charge was arrested again Tuesday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood when police found a loaded pistol with a laser mount in his backpack.
Adrian Mason has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a weapon without an FOID card and possession of ammunition without an FOID card, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s Street Crimes Suppression Unit was in the 3900 block of West Roosevelt about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday when they saw a man get out of a vehicle while drinking alcohol, according to police.
When the investigators approached, they saw an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle, according to police. They took him into custody and found a loaded Glock with a laser mount in his backpack. The weapon had been reported stolen from Jackson, Mississippi.
Mason, of the 3800 block of West Huron, was out on bond from an unlawful use of a weapon charge, and also has a previous felony conviction for delivery of a controlled substance.
Bond was set at $100,000 Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office. He was also ordered held without bond for violating conditions of his bond.
