Two men died in a “domestic incident” Sunday night in southwest suburban Braidwood, authorities said.
Officers responded at 9:14 p.m. Sunday to a call of shots fired in the 200 block of Park View Lane, according to Braidwood police.
They entered the home and found 35-year-old Joseph Burgess and 25-year-old James Benson dead inside, according to police and the Will County coroner’s office.
Each had suffered a single gunshot wound, authorities said. The coroner’s office said Burgess lived in Chicago, while police said he was from Bourbonnais. Benson was from Braidwood.
Witnesses said a quarrel between the men took place just before the shots were fired, police said. A .357 revolver and spent cartridges were recovered from the home.
The final cause and manner of deaths will be determined at a later date pending police, autopsy and toxicology reports, according to the coroner’s office. The investigation is ongoing.
