State child welfare investigators are looking into allegations of neglect against the parents of an Englewood infant who died Sunday morning at their South Side home.
Paramedics were called about 7 a.m. to the home in the 7100 block of South Parnell for a report of an unresponsive baby, according to Chicago Police.
The 1-month-old boy, Devin Dixon Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:48 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against the boy’s parents, agency spokeswoman Veronica Resa said.
A DCFS neglect investigation was already under way for separate allegations less than a month ago, Resa said. It wasn’t immediately clear whether any other children were removed from the home.
An autopsy Monday did not rule on the cause or manner of his death, with results pending further testing, according to the medical examiner’s office.
