Evanston teen charged with pointing handgun at woman

A teenage boy from Evanston is charged with pointing a handgun at an acquaintance Sunday in the northern suburb.

A 32-year-old woman called police about 4:10 p.m. and said the 16-year-old pointed a gun at her near Emerson Street and Brown Avenue, then ran away, police said.

She told officers she knew the boy from the area, police said.

Officers later found the boy in a home in the 1900 block of Emerson and took him into custody, police said. A Glock 9mm handgun was recovered.

The boy, who also lives in Evanston, is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, police said.

His name was not released because of his age.
