A man attacked a 16-year-old girl while she was jogging in the northwest suburbs Friday afternoon.
The girl had headphones in her ears and couldn’t hear when the man approached her from behind about 3 p.m. in the 26000 block of Lakeland Drive in unincorporated Lake Barrington, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.
The attacker grabbed her and tried to drag her into the woods but she fought him off and ran away. She was “not seriously injured,” police said.
Police brought K-9 units to track down the man but were unsuccessful.
He is described as a white man in his early 40s, about 5-foot-9 with light brown or blond hair, wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and black gym shoes.
Police ask anyone with information to call (847) 377-4250 or (847) 549-5200.
