A northwest suburban man was charged with breaking into a car Saturday morning in Elgin.
Jesus Villagomez, 19, was charged with one count of burglary, a Class 2 felony, according to Elgin police.
Officers responded at 9:17 a.m. to the 1900 block of Castle Pine Circle to a call that someone was trying car door handles to see if they were unlocked, police said.
Police saw the man, later identified as Villagomez, and chased him before taking him into custody. Officers also found burglary proceeds from a vehicle on the same block the initial call came from, police said.
Villagomez, of Carpentersville, was ordered held on a $10,000 bond Sunday, police said.
