A Des Plaines man is charged with burglarizing two vehicles left unlocked in an Evanston garage.
Jehad S. Sanduka, 24, was arrested about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday after a resident in the 1100 block of Austin Street called 911 to say someone tried to turn the doorknob of their home’s locked rear door, police said.
When officers arrived, they found Sanduska exiting a garage of a different home in the same block, police said.
They learned he did not live at that address and found he was carrying a bag that contained several items that did not belong to him, police said. Officers also found two vehicles in the garage appeared to have been ransacked.
Authorities contacted the 58-year-old man who owned the vehicle, who identified the items as being stolen from both his vehicles which were parked in the unlocked garage, police said.
Sanduka, of the 8900 block of Lyons in Des Plaines, is charged with two counts of burglary to an auto, police said. Court information was not immediately available.
