(RIVERDALE) A 62-year-old man shot Jan. 6 in south suburban Riverdale died two days later.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 4:30 p.m. in the 14100 block of South Tracy Avenue found Gary Williams shot in an alley, Riverdale Police Deputy Chief Rocky Graziano said.
A woman told police she was with Williams before he was shot, Graziano said. The two were standing outside an apartment building when she walked around the corner to buy drugs and heard a gunshot. She came back to find police and Williams lying on the ground, Graziano said.
Williams, who lived in the same block where he was shot, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.
