Man fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing identified

A man who was shot and killed Thursday night in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood has been identified.
Juan Simpson, 37, was standing in the 100 block of East 69th Street at 8:30 p.m April 2 when at least one person approached and fired shots, striking him in the back, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Simpson, who lived on the 6900 block of South Indiana, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso, the medical examiner’s office said.
