A man was shot and critically wounded Tuesday evening in the South Chicago neighborhood.
About 7 p.m., the 49-year-old had just exited his vehicle near a home in the 2000 block of East 80th Street when another male opened fire at a group of people standing outside nearby, according to Chicago Police.
The man was shot in the back and mouth and taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
Police said the man was not the intended target of the shooting, which may have stemmed from an unrelated domestic incident. Area South detectives are investigating.
