A man drove onto a Kennedy Expressway entrance ramp after he was shot in the neck in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side Tuesday evening, police said.
The man, 31, was driving in the 2900 block of North Sacramento about 5:33 p.m. when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said.
After he was shot, the man drove onto the entrance ramp to the inbound Kennedy Expressway, where emergency medical services were then called to, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
The entrance ramp remained closed as of 6:40 p.m. as authorities investigated, according to Illinois State Police.
