A 26-year-old man was shot to death early Saturday in west suburban Aurora.
Luis Martinez was found unconscious on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Beach Street at 6:20 a.m., according to a statement from Aurora police.
Martinez, of the 700 block of Gerten Avenue, had been shot twice and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:31 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
It is unclear if the shooter was in a vehicle or on foot, police said. Two homes were also hit during the shooting, but no one else was injured.
About 30 minutes earlier, shots were fired in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue at 5:50 a.m., and responding officers found bullet holes in a home and vehicle. A white, older model Lincoln Town Car with a red or black cloth top was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, police said.
The two incidents happened about two miles apart, and it is unclear if the shootings were related, police said.
