Man shot to death in Englewood

A 28-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday morning in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Travis Allen was sitting in a vehicle with friends in the 5700 block of South Emerald at 10:54 a.m. when they heard gunshots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

They got out of the vehicle and started running, and Allen was shot multiple times in the torso, police said.

Allen was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:32 a.m., police said. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.

A police source said the victim is a documented gang member.
