A 42-year-old man who was shot to death in Austin on Sunday night on the West Side has been identified.
James Douthard was driving in the 1000 block of North Lamon about 8:35 p.m. when someone opened fire, striking him repeatedly, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He then crashed into a parked car.
Douthard, of the 800 block of North Lawler, was dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled homicide.
Police said the man had documented gang ties.
