Multiple robberies reported on West Side

Police are warning residents about a series of robberies reported this month on the city’s West Side.

In each of the robberies, two or three males have approached victims and struck up conversations before demanding the victims’ property and reaching into their pockets to take it, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

In two of the robberies, the culprits were armed with a knife, police said.

The robberies occurred along North Avenue:

–In the 5500 block about 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 19;
–In the 5200 block about 11 p.m. on Jan. 19;
–In the 4200 block about 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 25.

Two of the suspects were described as males between 17 and 21 years old wearing black hooded sweatshirts, police said. One was about 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds while the other had dreadlocks and was about 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds.

The third suspect was also a male, although there was no further description available for him, police said.
