A 19-year-old man accused of shooting another man during an argument Tuesday night in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood has been ordered held without bond.
Jose Mena is charged with one felony count of attempted murder and one misdemeanor count of obstructing identification, according to Chicago Police.
About 7:15 p.m., Mena was arguing with a 20-year-old man about “an old conflict” when he pulled a gun and shot the man in the wrist and chest in the 3800 block of South Kedzie, police said.
The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
When officers responding to the shooting arrested Mena a short distance away, he gave them a fake name and birth date, police said.
On Thursday, Cook County Judge James Brown denied bail for Mena, of the 3100 block of West 39th Place, according to police and court records. He is scheduled to next appear in court April 7.
