A North Lawndale man shot his ex-girlfriend early Sunday during an argument outside near his West Side home, Chicago Police said Tuesday in announcing his arrest.
Milton Chalmers, 37, is charged with one felony count of aggravated battery for the shooting in the 1800 block of South Central Park Avenue, according to a statement from police.
Chalmers and his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend were arguing on the sidewalk about 2:20 a.m. when he shot her in the abdomen, police said.
The woman was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
Chalmers lives in the same block of Central Park, police said. Court information was not immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
