A northwest suburban man was found dead in a burning vehicle Friday night in the Pilsen neighborhood.
Crews responded at 7:48 p.m. to the fire near 21st Street and Jefferson, according to police and fire officials.
The body was found in the back seat of the SUV once the fire was extinguished, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle said.
He has been identified as 43-year-old James D. Gerage of the 100 block of Remington Drive in Barrington Hills, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was dead at the scene.
An autopsy did not rule on his cause and manner of death pending further studies.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
