One man has been killed and at least six others wounded in shootings so far Thursday, all of which happened on the South Side.
A man was shot and killed a few minutes after 2 a.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood.
Charles Gray, 36, got into an argument with someone in the 2100 block of West 71st Place and the other person pulled a gun and fired several shots, authorities said. The shooter got into a white car, which sped away.
Gray, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was shot several times and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m., authorities said.
A few minutes later, a man was shot in the Kenwood neighborhood.
The 24-year-old was shot in the side about 2:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of South Lake Park, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
An hour and a half later, two men were shot in Englewood.
They were in a vehicle in the 6600 block of South Union a few minutes before 4 a.m. when an SUV pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots, police said.
A 31-year-old man was shot in the lower back and a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest, police said. Both were taken to Stroger, where their conditions had stabilized.
At 6:20 a.m. in the South Shore neighborhood, officers found a 24-year-old man unresponsive on the ground in the 7100 block of South Cyril with a gunshot wound to his face. He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern.
Two more men were wounded in shootings Thursday afternoon on the South Side.
The first happened about 2 p.m. in the Pullman neighborhood.
The 18-year-old man was sitting outside in the 11300 block of South Corliss when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. He was shot in the ankle and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.
About 15 minutes later, a man was shot in the 6600 block of South Justine in West Englewood.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital. Police said the shooting may have been a drive-by.
