A downstate man who was shot to death Friday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side has been identified.
Emmett Marsh, 35, was sitting in a parked vehicle on the 1100 block of South Richmond at 8:20 p.m. when someone walked up to the car and shot him in the torso, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A friend drove Marsh to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 1600 block of South Stanley Street in Peoria.
A police source said the victim was a known gang member.
Marsh was the first homicide of the Labor Day weekend, during which at least seven other people were killed.
