Police: Man beat Loop 7-Eleven clerk with pipe wrench

Police are searching for two people who walked into a Loop 7-Eleven convenience store in May, beat the clerk with a pipe wrench and then stole merchandise.

The attack happened about 9:30 p.m. on May 26 at the store in the 100 block of North Michigan, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

A worker saw a woman try to leave with stolen goods, and was attacked with a wrench by another man when he confronted her, the alert said.

Police did not release the age, gender or condition of the worker, who was struck “numerous times.”

The woman is about 5-foot-3, and the man about 5-foot-10, police said.

Anyone with information should call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
