A man was shot to death and a woman was wounded in a shooting Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
About 9:30 p.m., police found the 37-year-old man unresponsive on a porch in the 3800 block of West Monroe Street, police said.
He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and neck and was dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
A short time later, officers responding to a call of a person shot in the 4000 block of West Lake Street found a 34-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to the arm, police said. She told investigators that she had been with the man on Monroe Street when she heard gunfire, felt pain, then ran to Lake Street.
The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
