Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of an SUV that hit two other vehicles in a hit-and-run crash Friday night in northwest suburban Elgin.
A 2008 Jeep Laredo was travelling east on Seneca Street at a high speed at 9:37 p.m. when it disregarded a stop sign and hit a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban that was headed northbound on Spring Street, according to a statement from Elgin police.
The Jeep continued down Seneca, where it hit a 1993 Buick LeSabre that had just parked with 5 people inside, police said. The crash caused the Buick to hit two unoccupied parked vehicles.
The Jeep’s driver ran away on foot before police arrived at the scene of the crash, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet and all five occupants of the Buick were taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Elgin police at (847) 289-2661. Tips can also be texted to 847411 with “ELGINPD” at the beginning of the message.
