A 20-year-old man accused of pulling the trigger in a fatal drive-by shooting in Bronzeville over the Memorial Day weekend was seeking revenge for an earlier shooting, prosecutors said Sunday.
Arieus Fitch, of the 6900 block of South Paxton, faces a first-degree murder charge in the gang-related attack at 8:20 p.m. May 24 in the 4400 block of South Cottage Grove.
Raheem Dameron, 15, was fatally shot multiple times in the back. Another boy, 14, was struck in the ankle. The two had just left a fish and chicken restaurant. Dameron lived in the 5600 block of South Justine, authorities said.
Fitch was denied bail during a court hearing Sunday.
The two boys were among 12 people killed and at least 43 others wounded over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago.
