Shots fired during Elgin armed robbery

Two men were shot at during an armed robbery Monday night in northwest suburban Elgin.

The victims, ages 23 and 27, were fixing a vehicle in the 0-100 block of Mulford Drive about 10:30 p.m. when three males approached, according to Elgin police.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded cash, a statement from police said. They stole one of the victims’ wallets and fired the handgun before driving off in a silver SUV.

No one was struck by the gunfire.
