Three north suburban boys were charged with stealing items from vehicles in north suburban Evanston.
Two teenagers from Evanston, ages 16 and 17, and a 16-year-old from Skokie were each charged with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and were petitioned to juvenile court, according to a statement from the Evanston Police Department.
At 8 p.m. Thursday, someone called police to report that three people had just broken the window of a vehicle in the 1500 block of McDaniel Avenue and stole an iPad, according to the statement.
Officers saw three people that matched the description of the suspects in the 2400 block of Lake Street and stopped the group. The suspects were arrested after officers found they had the iPad, according to the statement.
The officers also found items from two other vehicle burglaries. One occurred in the 2100 block of Lincolnwood Drive, in which items were taken from an unlocked vehicle, and the other one occurred in Skokie, according to the statement.
The Skokie Police Department has been notified, and it will handle any charges for incident that occurred in Skokie.
