A man was shot Thursday evening in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Two men, ages 18 and 22, were walking at 6:39 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Essex when they heard gunfire and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.
The older man was shot in the left leg and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
The younger man, who police initially thought had suffered a graze wound, declined medical treatment at the scene for an ankle injury.
