Woman fatally shot, two men hurt after leaving South Side party

A gunman opened fire at three people who were leaving a party Friday night in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side, leaving one woman dead and two others injured.

The three were leaving the party about 11 p.m. in the 9300 block of South LaSalle, police said. As they were leaving, a gunman opened fire, striking all three victims.

Nicole M. Towns, 19, of the 7400 block of South Michigan, was shot in the side and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:21 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A 30-year-old man was also shot in the side. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said. The other man, 28, was shot in the shoulder and took himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was treated and released.
