A west suburban man was sentenced Thursday to six-and-a-half years in prison for sexually abusing a child younger than 13 for several months in 2012.
Florencio Rivera, 33, of Wood Dale, pleaded guilty before Circuit Judge Donald Tegeler to a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, according to a statement from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Rivera sexually abused the child, whom he knew, between March 1 and June 1 of 2012, prosecutors said. Rivera, who used to live in the 600 block of Concord Street in Aurora, later admitted to the crime.
In addition to prison time, Rivera must register for life as a sexual offender under the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. He is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and received credit for at least four days served in the Kane County Jail.
