Cubs pitcher Jon Lester gets the message.
He knows he isn’t very good at keeping runners at first honest. He also knows that people we try to use this flaw against him.
As talented as Lester is, it would be a shame to see him never live up to his potential as a world-class pitcher because of a fatal flaw.
But if his performance Sunday is any indication, there may be some signs he’s improving at throwing to first base.

He got Cardinals shortstop Johnny Peralta with a really good move to first. It was swift, effortless, and most of all, it got an out. If Lester can continue to improve as he has this season, the Cubs look to be daunting opponent at any stage in the playoffs.
