Anthony Rizzo left Saturday’s Cubs game against the Washington Nationals with mid-back tightness.

Jonathan Lucroy pinch-hit for Rizzo and had a run-scoring double. To start the sixth, catcher Victor Caratini shifted to first and Lucroy remained in the game to catch.

Even before leaving early, Saturday was not Rizzo’s finest day. He had a throwing error in the first and dropped a Javy Baez throw in the second for another error.

Rizzo’s injury depleted an already-short bench. Ian Happ pinch-hit in the fourth and was ejected. With Lucroy in the game, the Cubs’ bench was down to just Addison Russell.
