Chicago could be hit with wind gusts up to 50 mph Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until midnight for all of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Winds from the south were expected to be around 30 mph while gusts could be much faster.

The strongest winds were expected after 1 p.m., forecasters said. Drivers were advised to use caution and look for downed trees and power lines.

Meanwhile, the area will continue its warm streak with the temperature peaking near 68 degrees, forecasters said.

Thursday’s temperatures could reach into the 60s, and there was also a chance of rain Thursday morning. The rain should subside by the afternoon, with more wind around 30 mph.
