2-year-old dies after hit by father’s SUV backing into garage in Oak Lawn

A boy was listed in critical condition after he was rescued from a pond July 23, 2021 in suburban Lake in the Hills. — A 2-year-old child was killed July 4, 2021, after she was struck by an SUV backing into a garage.

A 2-year-old died after her father struck her while backing an SUV into a garage Sunday afternoon in Oak Lawn.

The accident happened about 3:40 p.m. in the 9500 block of Meade Avenue, Oak Lawn police said.

The girl was taken to Advocate Aurora Christ Hospital and transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she died just after 6 p.m., according to police. An autopsy released Tuesday ruled her death an accident.

No charges have been filed, according to police.
