These 53 candidates running unopposed in Illinois will automatically win seats in the legislature or Supreme Court on Election Day.

The Sun-Times is providing live election results as soon as polls close on Nov. 3, but we aren’t listing races in which candidates ran unopposed. Candidates running unopposed automatically win the seat.

Of the state senate’s 59 members, eight are running unopposed on this year’s ballot. In the Illinois House of Representatives, 44 of the 118 seats are in uncontested races. Additionally, one justice in the Illinois Supreme Court, P. Scott Neville, Jr., is running unopposed.
