Early voting begins Monday in all 50 wards, 2 downtown sites

The sites will be open Monday through Election Day on April 4. Each site also has secure drop boxes for vote-by-mail ballots.

For the second time in a month, the polls are opening in Chicago.

Early voting for the city’s runoff election begins Monday and runs through Election Day on April 4.

Early voting sites will open in all 50 wards and two downtown locations, including the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners’ Supersite at 191 N. Clark St.

Each polling place will also be open on Election Day. Secure drop boxes for vote-by-mail ballots will also be available at all voting locations.

Voters can use any site regardless of their registered address.

The sites will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays; and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Extended hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. will be held at the Supersite and at the election board offices at 69 W. Washington St. from March 27-31 and again April 3. The board offices won’t be open on Election Day.

Additionally, three universities will host early voting, but only March 29-31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Chicago State University (9501 S. King Dr.), Northeastern University (5500 N. St. Louis Ave.) and the University of Chicago (Reynolds Club, 1131 E. 57th St.).

The city is also seeking applications for more poll workers at pollworker.chicagoelections.gov.

Nearly 132,000 Chicagoans cast early votes in the first round of municipal voting last month, accounting for almost a quarter of all ballots cast.
