Former First Lady Michelle Obama scored her first Grammy nomination on Wednesday for best spoken-word album for her best-selling memoir, “Becoming.”
Obama isn’t the first in her family to be Grammy-nominated. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, has won two Grammys in the same category for his books “The Audacity of Hope” and “Dreams From My Father.”
Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X were among the new artists to dominate nominations on Wednesday. Lizzo picked up eight nominations, while Eilish and Lil Nas X scored six nominations each.
The 2020 Grammys will hand out awards in its 84 categories live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 26, 2020. Nominees were selected from more than 20,000 submissions, and the final round of voting runs from Dec. 9 until Jan. 3.
