Courtney Barnett, India.Arie, De La Soul, Bomba Estereo among Taste of Chicago headliners

Courtney Barnett, India.Arie, Bomba Estereo and De La Soul are among the Petrillo Music Shell headliners for Taste of Chicago, the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announced early Thursday.

Other headlining artists slated for the Petrillo stage during the festival, which runs July 10-14 in Grant Park, include Cultura Profetica, lovelytheband and The Strumbellas. Opening performances will include sets by Meshell Ndegeocello, Sunflower Bean, Taylor Bennett, Joywave and Bilal.

In addition, Thursday’s announcement included the full lineup for The Goose Island Stage, a showcase for local artists.

Here are the headliner/opener pairings: July 10 (5:30 p.m): Courtney Barnett; Sunflower Bean opens July 11 (5:30 p.m.): Bomba Estereo and Cultura Profetica July 12 (5:30 p.m.): De La Soul; Taylor Bennett opens July 13 (4:30 p.m.): The Strumbellas, lovelytheband; Joywave opens July 14 (4:30 p.m): India.Arie, Meshell Ndegeocello; Bilal opens

Seating area tickets, $15-$40, for all Petrillo Music Shell concerts are now on sale at tasteofchicago.us. Buy early because prices will go up $5 on June 1, and an additional $5 on July 1. Lawn seating is free.

Food and beverage tickets for Taste ($10 for a strip of 14 tickets) are currently on sale at tasteofchicago.us and will also be available onsite at the festival.

Other entertainment options slated for this year’s Taste include the Theatre Garden, featuring performances by Second City, Porchlight Musical Theatre and other sketch and improv groups. Family performances will be featured early in the day along with interactive workshops and performances organized by Pocket Con, “an annual convention for Chicago youth that highlights comics and illustration work by diverse artists.”

Chicago’s Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club will present “The Mermaid Diva Show” on the west side of Buckingham Fountain each day at 3 p.m.

And Chicago SummerDance will move to Buckingham Fountain during the Taste, with dancing and music from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m daily (including an introductory one-hour dance lesson by pro instructors on select evenings). Some of the highlights include:

  • July 11: Motown with Lynne Jordan & The Shivers
  • July 12: Salsa with Willito Otero y su Orquesta
  • July 13: House with DJ Chip E
  • July 14: Country Two-step with the Lawrence Peters Outfit
