Kim Kardashian Westis opening up about her family’s “scary” experience with COVID-19.
The media mogul, 39, revealed during an interview withGRAZIAthat her husband, Kanye West, was diagnosed with the coronavirus mid-March at the onset of the pandemic. She added that she hadthe dauntingtask of caring for her ailing husband.
“Kanye had it way at the beginning, when nobody really knew what was going on,” Kardashian West told the outlet for her cover story, published Monday. “It was so scary and unknown. I had my four babies and no one else in the house to help.” (The couple shares four children: daughterNorth, 7;son Saint, 4;daughter Chicago, 2;and son Psalm, 16 months.)
Kardashian West said her husband was sick “during the time thatTom Hanks and Rita Wilsonannounced that they had Covid.” Hanks and Wilson announced on March 11 that they were hospitalized in Queensland, Australia, withthe coronavirus,becoming the first major celebritiesto test positive.
“I had to go and change his sheets and help him get out of bed when he wasn’t feeling good. It was a challenge because it was so unknown,” Kardashian West added. “Changing his sheets with gloves and a face shield was really a scary time.”
Kanye West first revealed that he had COVID-19 in July during an interview withForbes.
He said his symptoms included “chills” and “shaking in bed.” West said he resorted to”looking at videos telling me what I’m supposed to do to get over it.”
