Amy Schumer, who’s been looking for a new man in her life, has found one in Chicago.
The comedian shared the news Tuesday with an Instagram photo of herself with local furniture designer Ben Hanisch at the White House, along with her sister Kim Caramele and brother Jason Stein.
Schumer attended President Barack Obama’s Tuesday press conference about gun violence, an issue she has embraced since a gunman opened fire at a July screening of her movie “Trainwreck.”
The post followed Hanisch’s own IG image of the duo, with a caption gushing that he’s “extremely lucky” that “the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman” came along. Hanisch founded the Chicago custom furniture maker the Last Workshop.
By Wednesday, Schumer was tweeting breaking news about the relationship (along with the confirmed news that her Comedy Central series was renewed) and later reported he’ll join her at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.
The hookup is yet another reason for Chicago visits by Schumer, who drops by often to visit her brother, a local musician. At times she dovetails last-minute shows into the trips, most recently doing a Christmas Eve gig at Constellation.
Her love life is a favorite comedy topic for Schumer, whose roster of past loves includes comedian Anthony Jeselnik and wrestler Dolph Ziggler.
UPDATE: Schumer tweeted late Wednesday a denial of an E! Online report (earlier picked up here) that she met Hanisch on the dating app Bumble.
