Brian Williams comes out of seclusion for high school fundraiser

The first public appearance in weeks of furloughed NBC anchor Brian Williams took place over the weekend — as the broadcaster showed up for an important fundraiser for his high school alma mater.

The newsman, who was forced to take off six months from his “Nightly News” duties after fabricating details about reporting from the Iraq War zone, was warmly greeted by fellow supporters of Mater Dei High School in New Monmouth, New Jersey. Williams graduated from the Roman Catholic school in 1977.

At the event, Williams was joined by his wife, Jane, and appeared to be relaxed and in good spirits. He posed for photos with a number of former classmates and other attendees at the event, which reportedly raised approximately $1 million for the school.
