After living in the public eye for so long, Demi Lovato — now still only 21 — says she’s not worried about whatever news about her will get out.
In an interview with London’s Daily Mail, the entertainer spoke candidly about her struggle with addiction and keeping secrets from her fans.
“When you are no longer hiding anything, you don’t worry about what is going to get out. I don’t care who knows about my life, and now that I am an open book, a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”
The entertainer said she hopes to frighten her young fans about the dangers of abusing drugs and alcohol and become a “beacon of hope for the next generation.”
Lovato explained she started with pain pills, prescribed after a car accident. The pills led to excessive alcohol use and eventually cocaine.
