Good news — and bad — for Sherri Shepherd

Departing “The View” co-host and former Chicagoan Sherri Shepherd faced two very different headlines Tuesday. On the one hand, the comedian and actress revealed she will be heading to Broadway in September — joining already-announced Keke Palmer (who grew up in Robbins) in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” musical.

Palmer will become the first African-American to play the title role in “Cinderella” on Broadway. It also will mark Shepherd’s Broadway debut. She will play the role of Madame, Cinderella’s evil stepmother.

†On the other hand, it was also revealed by TMZ Tuesday that her surrogate had given birth to a baby boy in Pennsylvania. But here’s the problem: Shepherd is disavowing maternity of the baby, claiming her estranged husband Lamar Sally defrauded her, when she signed the surrogate documents.

Shepherd has said she believes Sally always intended to divorce her and then use the new baby to hit her up for child support.

Sally does intend to raise the child by himself and has indicated he also will request a court to order Shepherd to pay child support.
